Vice President - Professional Liability

A leading provider of commercial insurance is seeking a dynamic and energetic leader to lead their professional liability underwriting division.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide day-to-day leadership to the department in all areas
• Establish premium and profitability targets
• Measure performance against those targets and take appropriate corrective action
• Perform extensive ongoing analysis at the book level to identify trends and opportunities
• Ensure that appropriate workflows are utilized in order to achieve maximum efficiency and broker service
• Establish policies and procedures to ensure compliance with underwriting and profitability guidelines
• Establish an energetic and positive culture in the department
• Broker management
• Underwrite a small book of business with the purpose of staying in touch with market developments
• Perform account level audits to ensure compliance with underwriting and profitability guidelines and to identify training opportunities
• Perform referral underwriting for those accounts outside the underwriters authority level
• Participate in the development of marketing campaigns and ensure their proper implementation
• Ensure the proper implementation of marketing initiatives established at the company level
• Actively participate in industry events such as PLUS

QUALIFICATIONS
• 10 + years insurance experience
• 5+ years experience supervising / managing others
• 5+ years experience in the professional lines area
• Experience working at a carrier, preferably surplus lines
• 4 year college degree
• Must be a dynamic and energetic leader
• Must have strong technical underwriting knowledge
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with many different competing priorities
